
In 1953, the Wallasey
Corporation were advertising Luxury Cruises at normal fares. This
was an attraction that no other resort could offer. Cruising on this
magnificent air conditioned T.S.M.V. Royal Iris, with it's Ballroom,
Cocktail and Lounge Bars, Buffet, Orchestra, etc. Fares were 2/- (10p)
to 3/- (15p) per 2 hour cruise.

Two recent additions to
the Wallasey Corporation super modern Ferry Fleet
were the £180,000 T.S.M.V. Leasowe and the sister ship T.S.M.V.
Egremont. These vessels, along with others maintained the rapid
Liverpool to New
Brighton river crossing service.

The Mersey Ferries
The following pictures were taken in June 2000, and show that
the ferries are as much of Mersey life to day as they were 20 years ago.

I received this picture from a visitor to my site in 2006. The visitor
informed that the Royal Iris was in the hands of the breakers. On the
right of the picture the Melenium Dome can be seen.

Famous Ships That Visit
The River Mersey
|

The British Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier, HMS Invincible
visited the river Mersey in June 2000 along with other notable vessels,
as part of the Mersey River festival. Many people were able to
visit the ship during its 4 day stay.
